Game Finishing to Rate/Review

aka Unreviewed Boards List

Currently, in order to rate/review a map, a person must have finished at least one game on the map. This is of obvious benefit.

What I would like to see different is that when I am eliminated from a game, I would like to rate/review it without waiting for the game to completely end. This way I don't have to re-sort my games list to show finished games and go searching for a game that may have started weeks ago. Very rarely, or maybe never, have I been influenced by the events of the game after my elimination to a degree that would change my opinion of a map. I think authors will see more ratings/reviews with such a setup, as the rate/review link is most accessible when I go back to see who/how I was eliminated.

I believe this is already implemented. Every time I've been eliminated while the game is still going, I've been given the option to review the board. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be given the same option. --Step.On.Me 06:34, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

If I recall, you are indeed given the option, but you can't actually do a review until the entire game is finished. --FadeToOne 18:34, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I thought about this more. I actually think I like it how it is. I don't trust most people's first impressions of maps, and forcing the first game to completely end - while probably keeping many many people from reviewing - makes it such that they will review it on after a later try. What I would like instead is an email reminder to review a board after I've played it 3 times. Since I distrust others' first impressions so much, I'm trying to get away from sharing my own (since ratings can't later be edited). In doing so, though, I've lost track of some boards that I might like to review now, but don't want to have to try to find in the mass of boards out there. Yeah, I'm that lazy. --4thReich 30 June 2008
No, I totally agree, and I don't think it's laziness... with the number of games played (particularly on those afternoons when I get on a GvE kick) in the "Finished" list, it can be next to impossible to find that one game on that new map you wanted to give feedback on. There is a definite need for some kind of tracking system for writing board reviews. --asm 30 June 2008
--Severene 15:35, 22 July 2008 (UTC)- Perhaps, on our personal front page, when logging in, it could include another link to "Un-Reviewed Games". (Right under "Your Turn in X Games" or any other similar location to remind us.)
Alrighty, Severene, I've added this "unreviewed boards" section on the front page to make it easier to find your unreviewed boards that are eligible for review. It reminds you when you have boards that you've played 3 or more times (you can see a full list of unreviewed boards as well if you want to see them all by going to your profile page) also in response to 4thReich's suggestion.. I've listed the number of games you've played on next to each so you can see which ones you've played enough and remember to go back in and review them. I figured it wasn't necessary to bother/remind people on their homepage if they've only played a game once or twice.... Thanks guys for all the thought that went into this one.. please let me know what you think. --Steven 04:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Also thanks to Doom for his persistence / enthusiasm today on this one --Steven 04:58, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
----- I hope I wasn't too persistent! lol =D --Doom 15:23, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I've already seen a spike in number of reviews lately, so that's cool... --FadeToOne 17:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
I've seen a spike, too. I think this improvement was implemented well; a gentle reminder that is not at all intrusive. Thanks, Steven! --Red Baron 22:50, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
