Make message area textarea

From WarfishWiki

I think that the User Interface for messages is a little cumbersome. We are provided a tiny "text box" rather than a "text area". Thus, if someone asked you how to do something (e.g. direct-boot someone who hasn't taken their turn for a couple of weeks), you probably cannot see all the text that you are typing. You have to scroll left and right to review what you typed. And if you type like me, after you post your message you realize that there were errors in what you typed.

[edit] An Alternative Suggestion

I agree that it's cumbersome when trying to type messages and you have to go back and forth so much when the messages get lengthy. I'd like to suggest that perhaps you incorporate both a single line text box and a multi-line text box. For example, if you're just going to type a small message (i.e. "good game" or "vote to boot Step.On.Me"), then a single line text box is useful, but if you're going to type a longer message, we should be able to click "leave long message" or "alternate messaging" or something similar that will redirect us to or give us the multi-line text box. Perhaps you could even make it where it automatically switches to the multi-line text box after a certain number of characters are typed. --Step.On.Me 03:26, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Minor Related Enhancement Request

I'd like to be able to type a secret message while looking at the gameboard... as far as I know now if I want to create a secret message I have to go to the Messages tab to do it, which more often than not means I need another window so I can look at the gameboard while typing the message. --asm 14:08, 7 June 2008 (PST)
