New Border Option-Attack Without Capture

From WarfishWiki

[edit] Explanation

My idea is to add a new type of border (that can be one directional or two) that would allow players to attack another territory but not capture it after. That is that the territory could be reduced to 0 units but would then be considered abandoned or neutral with zero units. The best application in boards would be to consider a long range attack. This could simulate the use of cannons, arrows, bombing or any kind of projectile.

[edit] Discussion

That is cool idea. I was wondering how to implement ranged attacking. I was thinking that that might be more a function of a special unit with "ranged capability". In that scenario maybe any time you are attacking a square that is not directly adjacent to you.. are performing an "attack without capture"? I'm trying to think though the advantages of each method if implementing ranged attacks. Let me know what you think. --Steven 19:27, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
I suggested this very idea, Steven, more than a year ago when I was working on "Hill Battle." I called it "artillery borders" since my idea was to simulate firing cannons at a distant target. I know we exchanged e-mails about it at one time, back before we had the wiki. I hope you implement it, since I have several board ideas that could use such a feature. (I even gave Hill Battle a cannon card in the hope I could add artillery someday!) --Red Baron 05:18, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sitting on a number of map ideas that would use this. Here's my bump. --4thReich 12:37, 05 June 2008 (UTC)
